up until this point hasn't been that much! After the Father's Day Race I spent 13 days NOT running. There have been some medical issues I've been adressing in the meantime, but not running was killing me.
Finally, this past Saturday a friend invited me to venture out on a 10 mile run with her. Half way into the run my legs already were screaming at me. I finished the run that warm morning with a time I'm not the proudest of- but hey, beggers can't be choosers right?
TODAY WAS AN EXCITING DAY! It was Day 1 of my marathon training group. I was so anxious last night I couldn't sleep!Unfortunately the gate was closed this morning so we weren’t able to meet at the normal meeting spot. Also, there were a few questions about where the turnaround points were but beyond the first day logistical bummers, it was great. I ran my first tempo run for 15 minutes at a 9:25 pace. I’m pretty sure I failed the tempo run miserably. It’s hard to 1) get used to running constant and 2) run that slow. I completed just under 5 miles this morning and even at 6am it was warm out. The group was a good sized group and it was nice to see all the trainers in their gear.
I don’t think it’s hit me that I’m training for a FULL marathon yet. But I sure it will hit me like a ton of bricks.

Redemption Weekend
Well, after 6 days of NO running (other than after my toddler through CVS) I completed 8.5 miles of miserable hills early Saturday morning. This trail is known by the locals as Sky Harbour. It's an awful, yet beautiful, trail along Millerton lake. It took about 30 minutes to get there and longer than I would have liked to complete, but I figure I'm one step closer to being ready for The San Francisco Half Marathon next month!
Which brings us to today. Today is Father's Day. I like to just say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE my father. He is the greatest guy in the whole wide world. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE my husband who has been a wonderful provider and father to our little guy. But to the point. I ran the Father's Day 6 Mile run this morning. It was unusually chilly for June in Fresno, CA. I gave it my best and PR'ed! My time was under 48 minutes (I didn't stop my watch in time because I was too excited to wave at the loves of my lives). I even placed 3rd in my division. It was a great morning and I had a lot of fun. HAPPY FATHERS DAY EVERYONE!

I'm still shopping...
http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=466900&PseudoCat=se-xx-xx-xx.esn_results
This is my latest purchase. It relates to running because I wanted a coffee maker that was programmable so that I experience the aroma of coffee brewing when my alarm was going off at 4:30 in the morning. So far, it hasn't helped. I'll report back.

In pursuit of the perfect sports bra…

Since I'm doing more shopping than running these days, that is what today's blog is about.
Recently, I’ve been hating my iPod arm band more and more. My arm is on fire underneath it and I feel like my arm gets tangled in the ear bud cord. I’ve seen advertisements for sports bra’s with built in pockets and have finally decided to pursue it. After hours of searching online I found this one. After 3 days of emails my order was placed. I can’t wait to try it out. It’s being shipped out later this week! Review to follow.

Stuck in a Rut
"Racing teaches us to challenge ourselves. It teaches us to push beyond where we thought we could go. It helps us to find out what we are made of. This is what we do. This is what it's all about."
-PattiSue Plumer, U.S. Olympian
Over the past couple of weeks I've had a really hard time waking up to run. This is terrifying considered I've got a a half marathon right around the corner and I did sign up for that marathon! My 3-4 days a week running has turned into 1-2. Yuck.
I did get a few good runs in this week though. I ran 5 miles Thursday night and 9 this morning. I need to get my tail in gear. It's so hard when the weather is in the high 90's/100's. Who wants to do anything in weather like that?!
Hopefully next week is a better week.

Where do I begin?
I was never the girl who ran cross country.
I was never the girl who voluntarily ran.
I was never the girl who ran faster than an 8 minute mile.
I was never the girl who competed in track races.
TODAY I AM A GIRL WHO RUNS MARATHONS! I've officially signed up to run a marathon in November. To be honest, I'm terrified. I will begin an 18 week training program in July. I hope to document my journey here.
Thank you all for the love and support!
